Sometimes I think it would be very beneficial if we had a voice chat, it does have its pros and cons, but in some discussions it would be pretty useful (like having a digital white board where one can explain the lesson making it more one on one scenario)
The biggest con of that idea is that we couldn't control what people say.
Interesting. I'm often linked to outside services by OS users for this matter. I believe it's been discussed before, but let's see what the guys've got to say. Although, personally, I'm more interested in knowing what they've been working as of late. :)
Ture @Ledah
Having voice chat would save lots of time but now that i think of it there are many cons, such as yu said language, accents and just knowin g how to speak english beacuse OS is a diverse culture
Yes, that would be exactly what I am referring to. Such a diversity of cultures, languages. It probably would be more trouble than it's worth..
Yea I guess @Ledah
But having it as an option where the one who asks the question can choose to enable or disable the feature could be someting to be kept in mind?
I like the idea overall but the way I see it. People would take big advantage over what they could do with a voice chat. Also on that note. How would we filter a voice chat?
The main issue is the supervision on the language which will prove to be a big challenge
If there was voice chat, there would have to be a button where you can mute all and also a button to mute each individual. We will be seeing different types of spamming if you know what I mean.
Actually that would be the BIGGEST challenge ;)
That seems like a lot of work. Meaning the muting each individual.
We could have something where you have to have a smart score of a certaian number say 70 + which will prove your trustworthy and language may not be an issue because they will have a good reputatuon among the os community?
But again its a big hassle not worth taking...
Well say @mattfeury way getting on my nerves, I should be able to mute him.
And if that isn't an option then I honestly have to say a voice chat would be not so good for OpenStudy.
I would have to agree.
Yea, I was just giving a suggestion -_-
I know. And I suggest the muting thing. That would be the only way I would be in favor of this. :)
But honestly I don't know if I would use the voice chat. I wonder how many would if it was available.
Hey this idea isn't a complete bust @waheguru we should just work on how we can monitor the voice chat.
I can see how it might be helpful...Recently I used OpenStudy along with the phone to assist my sister with a math question she had.
Dont you live with your sister
Maybe an older sister who has moved out. Throwing guesses though.
No she lives a bit over 1000 miles away from me. Also it might be hard to I guess attach a voice option to each question. I could be wrong. I know nothing. lol.
It would also be harder to moderate...Like I wonder how we would make sure people are walking people through questions instead of just handing out answers over voice...
Lol. I love working with computers. Although the voice idea sounds like it would be extremely bothersome. Well not so much bothersome. but it would be a bit more trouble to have something like that running seeing as the appropriate language falls into place. Some people still act as if they are still children..
this idea will reveal that i am an android o.O
