Can you please explain adding and subtracting radical expressions step by step?

some examples are 2 sqrt2 + 3 sqrt2 = 5 sqrt2 6sqrt3 - sqrt3 = 5 sqrt3 - the radicals are treated in the same way as variables compare 6x - x = 5x.
