except it says geo series is x = 1.... but in my book it says x = 0???

it starts at $k=1$ because the first term is written as $ar^{k-1}$ if you write the first term as $ar^k$ then you would start at $k=0$

i know of 2 series in calc   tarylor and maclueirian   

macluren is just special easy case of taylor series with a 0

geo and arithmatic is algebra not calc.

I believe geo series has to start @ 0 right?

and you can basically figure it out using that a/(1-r) formula?
