Part 1: Show the work to solve |3x – 2| < 7 Part 2: Describe the graph of the solution in words.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

to solve this absolute value inequality, you'll need to solve these two separate ineqalities: \(\large 3x-2<7 \) AND \(\large 3x-2>-7 \) can you take it from here?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no i m very bad at solving inequality can u teach me please with this question

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

its a similar process to solving an equation 3x - 2 < 7 add 2 to each side of equation: 3x < 9 divide by 3: x < 9

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x<3

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

can you do 3x - 2 > -7 in a similar way

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

oops - yes x < 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes but how can i describe the graph

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is this correct x<3 and x>-5/3

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

yes the graph will be a line with an open circle at x= -5/3 and open circle at +3, shaded in between
