7(4+x)=-7(2+x)+3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

carry out the distributive property on both sides to get rid of those parentheses... what do you have now?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

all i want to know is if it can be solved.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you won't know until u try it out doing the algebra....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got \[28+7x=-14+7x+3\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that 7x on the right should be -7x, don't you think?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh yeah! duh! \[28+7x=-14+-7x+3\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

correct... now isolate the x's by adding 7x to both sides then subtract 28 from both sides... what u got then?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:) i guess that means you got it from here?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what? i didnt get a solution... did i do something wrong?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

there should be a solution...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the solution is a fraction...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\(\large 28+7x=-14+-7x+3 \) \(\large 28+7x=-11-7x \) \(\large 28+7x\color {red}{+7x}=-11-7x\color {red}{+7x} \)
