To which numbers could you apply cancelling when calculating the product-- 8 5 ---(M) --- 9 6 (M is for Multiplying) 8 and 6 9 and 6 8 and 5 5 and 9

Cancellation applies when you have some factor in both the numerator and the denominator, they cancel to make 1. If we broke the numerator and the denominator into prime factors... (2*2*2)*(5) / (3*3)*(2*3) We can see that there are factors from the 6 and 8 that can be cancelled out.
