What is the meaning of resolving vectors into components; real life application?

OpenStudy (radar):

Use the same method you use to convert polar coordinate to rectangular coordinates.

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

understanding a cake by looking at its ingredient

OpenStudy (anonymous):

In real life, the x and y components are mutually exclusive (ie- a ball will fly in a vertical parabola (disregarding air resistance) regardless of whether the ball, before thrown, is moving horizontally or not).

OpenStudy (ujjwal):

walking! you push the earth downward at an angle incline to vertical and you move forward as well as your weight is also balanced at the same time!

OpenStudy (ujjwal):

*inclined

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@ujjwal I've read that example in the fundamental physics book, something other than rote learned stuff???

OpenStudy (ujjwal):

cyclist inclines himself slightly from vertical when moving in a circular track!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Conservation of momentum maybe: momentum is conserved in all directions.

Hmm got it, thanks for helping guys...
