What is the value of the expression 7 – 52 × 3 – 43? -36 -11 -132 10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

order of operations

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Use PEMDAS 1. Parenthesis 2. Exponents 3. Multiplication/Division (Depending which one comes first) 4. Addition/Subtraction (Depending which one comees first)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-132

OpenStudy (anonymous):

In this case, there are no parenthesis or exponents, so multiplication would come first

OpenStudy (anonymous):

don't think so @DevinWilson

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the answer is -192, so its none of the above

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah that's what I got too @georgeblue22

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i worked it out and i didnt get any of the choises

OpenStudy (anonymous):

there could be a fault in the question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

probably

OpenStudy (anonymous):

idk but can u show me how u solved it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

7-(52 x 3) - 43 7 - 156 -43 you can do the rest

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sure. We have to multiply -52*3 cause that's the first thing that we haave to do since there is no parenthesis/exponents. We get 7-156-43 After this and it's just basic adding/subtraction now :) As george said try to do the rest :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i did that and i got -196

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Not quite but close, When we do 7-156 we get, -149. 7+(-156)=-149 Now we do -149-43 which you can also write like -149+(-43) & we get -192.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

also -192

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i understand that but its ot one of the answers

OpenStudy (anonymous):

to prevent any miscalculations, we can use a calculator to check our answers; works all the time ;) And regarding the invalid answer, I think there may be something to do with the question...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

never mind it was 7-5^2*3-4^3
