I need help with APA in-text citations for an article retrieved on-line. I found the basic format, but the question is if what I am citing has been cited in the article do I cite just the article author or do I have to include the authors he cited?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You cite the author of that particular article.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If the author of the article is paraphrasing other authors (not directly quoting), you should cite the author of the article. If you'd like to include a direct quotation that the article author is using, use the original author. Either way, you can include a 'see also' statement as follows: (Smith, 2012; see also Barry, 2009).
