what is a eukaroyte and a prokaryote

OpenStudy (stephstar101):

Prokaryotes are organisms with cells that lack a cell nucleus or any membrane-encased organelles. Basically, their DNA, which is a single loop, is not bound inside a nucleus. Bacteria are prokaryotes. Eukaryotes are organisms with cells that have membrane-bound nucleus (that holds DNA) as well as membrane-bound organelles. Their DNA is very complex and are organized into chromosomes. Humans are an example of a eukaryote.
