I know there will be as many roots of a polynomial as the highest power. But, is there a way to distinguish real roots from complex ones?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not to be glib, but the real ones look like some number, and the complex ones come in conjugate pairs and look like \(a+bi\) and \(a-bi\) when you graph you can see the real ones, it is where the curve crosses the \(x\) axis you cannot see the complex ones

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is there more to the question?

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

does Descarte's Rule of Signs predict the number of real roots and imaginary roots? if i remember right it does
