A square pyramid has a total surface area of 1000 sq feet. The area of the base is 500 sq ft. What is the area of one triangular face of the lateral surface?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A square pyramid has 4 triangular faces and a base. We can find the area of the 4 triangular faces by subtracting the area of the base by the total surface area. Now that we have the area of 4 triangular faces, we should be able to find the area of 1 triangular face.

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

the area of the 4 triangular faces is 500 sq ft.... (1000 - base 500) 4 trianglular faces 1 face = 500/4
