The range is a subset of the co-domain but what's the importance of the co-domain?

Some people will tell you it not important but in my opinion you need to specify the set in which you output values are constrained to fall else you don't actually have a function at all.

well, normally I would only state the domain and the range as they are the only ones that have to be included in the answer, so I was just curious
