sketch the vector field F by drawing the diagram. F(x, y)= ( x -y) i +x j What does x-y mean? What would it do to the graph?
dis is a bit harder
F(x, y)= ( x -y) i +x j ok so lets pic point 1,1 (1-1)i+1j means 0 right 1 up 1,2 (1-2)i+1j =-1 i 1j means 1 left i up 1,3 (1-3)i+1j = -2i 1j means 2 left 1 up the patern for holding x constant at 1 and increasing y is 1 up and x-y left

One second. I will make a table and then make a graph. Can you check it for me when I'm done?
sure do you know what i done so far? :)
i think so.
good :D
ooh btw http://kevinmehall.net/p/equationexplorer/vectorfield :) this is a life saver. :)
x y (x-y) xj 1 1 0 1j 1 2 -1 1j 1 3 -2 1j 1 4 -3 1j 1 5 -4 1j 2 1 1 2j 3 1 2 3j 4 1 3 4j 5 1 4 5j
here is my table
http://kevinmehall.net/p/equationexplorer/vectorfield#(x-y)i+xj%7C%5B-10,10,-10,10%5D
Now I have to graph it.
That's really helpful. Can anyone access that?
yes lol just dont abuse it know why it works :)
save the link and you can plug in your own vector field function
for the first vector at (1,1) the i vector is zero but the j vector is 1. Is that why it's vertical one unit?
yup :) because 1-1 i is 0 i
thank you again
it goes up 1 unit but zero left or right
De nada :)
