It will be square units...either feet and inches or meters & centimeters.  Bu there are lots of other units for length also.

you can deduce that by looking at formulas

for example area of rectangle is length x width

length is measured in let's say cm

width is measured in cm too

length x width will be cm x cm that results in $cm^2$

Square units. Which is cm2 or in2 etc. it depends on the measurement used.
