Set up two sets of parantheses. You have to have "a" in each, because that's the only way to get a^2. The middle term is positive, so both factors must be a + "some number"*b. (a + ?)(a + ?) Now, what factors of 27 will give you 12 in the middle? It can't be 27 and 1, and the only other factors are 9 and 3
