Does the graph represent a function that has an inverse function?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this is the graph of cot(x) which is not an inverse function

OpenStudy (anonymous):

arctan (x) is an inverse function

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I havent learned cot(x) yet. We are supposed to use the horizontal line test to figure out if it the horizontal line crosses more than 1 point on the equation. Im not sure if it does.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry i don't remembr that test but i do know that cot(x) does have an inverse function

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thnx anyway. Does anyone know the horizontal line test????

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it has an inverse function?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this one is the graph of x cube

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and in yours graph the line is shifted 1 unit unward.thats in positive direction. which is of 1 x cube.
