What is another name for this polynomial, based on the number of terms it contains? g(x)=x^3+x^2-27 is it trinomial? or binomial becase it only has 2 exponents?

OpenStudy (jiteshmeghwal9):

Becoz it has the highest degree of 3. so it's a trinomial

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Wrong, a trinomial has 3 terms...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So a trinomial b/c it has 3 terms

OpenStudy (anonymous):

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trinomial

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i looked at that and thats what got me confused

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Mono -1 Bi - 2 Tri -3 with reference to the number of terms not the degree

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got confused b/c it looked as if every term needed like a # and then an x after it on every #... like (#x^3-#x^2+#x) ... so it is a trinomial

OpenStudy (anonymous):

U understand it now?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah thanks :)
