Please explain how to completely factor 3x2 − 3x − 60

OpenStudy (anonymous):

First factor out the Greatest Common Factor. 3x2 − 3x − 60 3(x^2-x-20) then factor your polynomial what to factor of 20 will subtract to -1 5 and 4 (x-5)(x+4) i know that 5 is negative because the middle term is negative so the larger factor is negative. so completely factored it is 3(x-5)(x+4)
