OpenStudy (anonymous):

Aaliyah runs on a triangular track in a local park. On Saturday, she runs one lap around track FED. The length of each path on this track is shown in meters (m) in the diagram below. If track FED is similar in shape to track ABC, how many meters, rounded to the nearest tenth, would Violet run in one lap on track FED? Type the numeric answer only in the box below.

OpenStudy (ganpat):

use similarity ratios.. BC/ DE = AB / EF and AC/ DF = AB/ EF.. find unknown values DE and DF and add all of them together..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do you find it

OpenStudy (ganpat):

i will show u for 1st one.. AC/ DF = AB / EF 13/ DF = 5/ 14.. SO DF = 13 * 14 / 5 DF = 36.4... find similarly find other,, or u can also use Pythagoras as it is right angle triangle..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the answer is ....... ?

OpenStudy (ganpat):

ha ha.. ok hold on.. DF = 36.4... 2. BC/ DE = AB / EF 12/ DE = 5/ 14 DE = 12 * 14 / 5 DE = 33.6.. so adding all them together.. 33.6 + 36..4 + 14 = 84...
