Use the distributive property to simplify the expression below: See attachement -2x - 10 -2x + 5 2x + 5 4x + 5

Distribution property as a rule isn't that vital on this particular problem. Just divide both terms in the numerator by -2.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What do you get when you do that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And remember a negative divided by a negative ALWAYS produces a positive.

OpenStudy (compassionate):

2(x - 5) ------- -2 The two's cancel -(x - 5) -x + 5 or 5 - x

@Compassionate close. It's choice (B).

OpenStudy (compassionate):

Yes, is it B. However, i wanted to show her how to work the mathematics. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ehhh...okay @Compassionate . Even though REALLY you did like I did at first and thought choice (A) was part of the question. : ) It's cool though! Take care

OpenStudy (compassionate):

You too! Have a good day, Corey.

Thanks! :)
