Please help After you present the plans to the Noethers, Mrs. Noether loves your drawing so much that she wants you to create a similar pool for the family dogs. She wants the dimensions of this pool to be the dimensions of the family pool. TH FAMILY POOL DIMENSION IS 6X20X20 Determine the following: The dimensions for the dog pool that fit the above specifications The amount of pool liner material that will be needed to completely line the inside of the pool (sides and bottom)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The amount of water that will be needed to fill the pool if the water needs to be 6 inches below the top of the pool *Please include the work involved in determining the above measurements or an explanation for how the measurements were determined. Draft a proposal for the Noethers that includes the above information along with a drawing of their dogs' pool. You may need to create more than one drawing to correctly convey your idea.

so is the dog pool a 20 wide by 20 long by 6 deep rectangular prism?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No thats the family pool

OpenStudy (anonymous):

"She wants the dimensions of this pool to be the dimensions of the family pool."

OpenStudy (anonymous):

she wants it to 1/4 of the family pool

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok, so 5 wide by 5 long by 1.5 deep, then, by dividing the dimensions all by 4.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok then it asks about the The amount of pool liner material that will be needed to completely line the inside of the pool (sides and bottom) The amount of water that will be needed to fill the pool if the water needs to be 6 inches below the top of the pool

OpenStudy (anonymous):

pool liner would be the bottom surface area (5x5, or 25) + the lateral surface area (the sides) ( 5x1.5 *4 [because there are 4 sides], or 30) in total that would be 55

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok now for the water how do I figure that out

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the amount of water would be the volume of a 5x5x1 rectangular prism (because we lost 6 inches from the height), or 25 units cubed

OpenStudy (anonymous):

assuming units are feet

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so from what I heard from my mom every square feet in a pool is 7 gallons so I would multiply 7 by 25

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what units does it need the answer in?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

feet cubed is a perfectly acceptable measure of volume unless the question specifies gallons.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and the conversion is actually closer to 7.48052

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it needs it in square the question said gallons but the question said this The amount of water that will be needed to fill the pool if the water needs to be 6 inches below the top of the pool

OpenStudy (anonymous):

pool liner would be in square feet, and water would be in gallons.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh I see

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So just multiply 25 by 7.48052

OpenStudy (anonymous):

exactly

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks, Mr.Moose lol now I understand it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you are welcome

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how would i draw that pool guys?
