solve for only one variable using the first (or second equation) then plug that answer back into the other equation
There's multiple methods of solving these
example solve for x in equation 1, then plug that answer (which will include only y) back into the second equation and solve for y.
I prefer to put both equations in the form y = mx + b, then set y = y and solve for values of x and y
