Marvin Co. sells pens ($6) and flashlights ($10). If total sales were $624 and customers bought 7 times as many pens as flashlight, what would be the number of pens sold?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the total sales is the total of the money brought in by each items sale. So use the equation 624= 7x($6) + x ($10) and solve for x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

where 7x stands for the number of pens and x is the number of flashlights sold

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok im still lost

OpenStudy (anonymous):

gimme a sec

OpenStudy (anonymous):

60 , 70 , 30 ,50 are my options as awnsers?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you have the option of 84?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nope

OpenStudy (anonymous):

there is a none of these options so that must be it thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because x solves for the number of flashlights = 12, and there are 7 times as many pens, so 84 pens.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have two more if you want to help me :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

was that right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thast what i got when i do the equation but there isnt an option of that awnser so i choose none of the above
