Factor 5x^2-9x-18

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have found (x-3)(5x-6).... first make the coff. of x^2=1 by devideing all coff. by 5 and then use formula to find roots after it multiply one by 5. it's done..

The factors are (x-3)(5x+6)

(x-3)(5x-6)

1 -3 5 6 ------ -9 -15+6=-9 the first column must be multiple of 5 and the 2nd a multiple of -18. you cross multiply and add them up. their sum should be the middle number in this case there , you just take the coefficients , that being (x-3)(5x+6). its kind of a weird method but that is the way i learned it hahah :D
