What is the difference between a sensor and a transducer.???????

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Not much in practice. Transducer is a well defined term, it converts some for of energy to another form of energy (generally electricity). A sensor "senses" It may refer to a complete circuit in which a transducer is a part of the circuit. A float that directly moved a needle would be a sensor, however it would not be converting energy so it is not a transducer. A sensor is defined by a purpose a transducer is a device.
