Which of the following does not represent a function? x 8 7 9 5 2 y 2 4 5 −5 4 x 2 5 6 5 2 y 1 2 3 4 5 x −4 −5 −6 −7 −8 y 4 5 6 7 8 x 0 2 3 4 8 y 1 3 5 4 7

OpenStudy (ash2326):

@SAm_1234 a function is a relation such that for each x there, is a unique value of y. For example x 1 2 3 4 y 0 2 2 3 Here we can see for each x there is only one value of y, so this is a function x 1 2 1 3 y 0 2 2 3 here for x=1, there are two different values of y, 0 and 2 so it's not a function Do you get this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No

OpenStudy (ash2326):

@SAm_1234 which part you don't get?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

All of it

OpenStudy (ash2326):

A function is a relation such that for each x there is only one output y Example for x=1, we'll have only one y value say 2 it can't be more than 1 if for x=1, we have two values of y=2, 3 then it's not a function Do you get this?

OpenStudy (ash2326):

@SAm_1234 ?
