It's probably pretty similar to other rivers, so... fish, plants, protists (photosynthetic and otherwise), and probably crayfish, clams, etc.

I am not knowledgeable on this subject, but I know for sure the Mississippi river is a very dirty river because a good percentage of sewage flows down it and to the gulf. Yikes! *shudders*
