Your answer is a simple one. In reality you would just multiply 3 by 23 because that would be 3 cookies per person in the class. But since you're using the distributive property, you'll want to pick 3(20 + 3). 3 x 20 = 60 3 x 3 = 9 60 + 9 = 69, which is 3 x 23.
