A company gives raises once a year. Amir's present salary is $16,000. His manager would like to raise Amir's salary to $19,000. What percentage rate would Amir be receiving?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OK \[$16,000 * (1 + raise_-percent) = $19,000\]

I understand that, I just don't understand how to further get the answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You'll just do some manipulations to isolate and to solve for raise_percent

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(1.) Divide both sides by 16000 (2.) Subtract 1 from both sides

Thanks, did you figure it out?
