Washington High School has a total of 90 boys and girls who play sports. If the number of boys is 10 more than three times the number of girls, how many girls play sports at this high school?

I believe this is the equation. 3g+10+g=90
OpenStudy (anonymous):
the 3g+10 represents the boys.. 10 more than 3 times the number of girls and the g represents just the girls.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
so then it becomes 4g+10=90
OpenStudy (anonymous):
then solve for g
OpenStudy (anonymous):
so it should be 20 girls :)
