can you find tangent from knowing what the cosine and sine are?? if so how?

OpenStudy (ash2326):

We know that \[\tan x= \frac{\sin x}{\cos x}\]

OpenStudy (ash2326):

@cowgirltough did you understand?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think so. this might sound silly but what do the x stand for?

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

x is the angle

OpenStudy (ash2326):

@cowgirltough no question is silly ! x= angle

OpenStudy (ash2326):

if you have sin= 3/5 and cos =4/5 then what's tan ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh my this is probably way wrong but is it 3/4?

OpenStudy (ash2326):

it'r right, it's so simple that we may feel that we are wrong ;) so tan of that angle is 3/4 good work:D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh thank you!! (:

OpenStudy (ash2326):

you're welcome:D
