try isolating square root of 2x-2 on the left side first.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

after that, square both sides.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

on squaring both sides, on left side, use the property (square root of a)^2 = a. for the right side, use foil method.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2x-2=1+sqrt of x... correct so far?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

On squaring you will not get this..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i haven't squared it yet

OpenStudy (anonymous):

try to use foil method: (a+b) = a^2+2ab+b^2.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[2x - 2 = (1 + \sqrt{x})^2\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2x-2 = 1+1sqroot of x+ 2x?
