Parth (parthkohli):

I am very concerned about medal parties. I was on a question where a member cracked a joke, and got 2 medals for it. Medals are supposed to be \(\textbf{Hard-Earned (tm) }\). Is there a solution for the above? Is \(\textbf{reporting}\) enough?

1. Why are you bolding things? 2. I think people are entitled to give medals to whoever they wish. They may be "wasted" medals, in a sense, and the person who really "deserves" them won't get them but that's up to the medal givers discretion. There are no guarantees any user would get one (or more) anyway. 3. We are not (supposed to be) doing things to get medals, so (imo) it's irrelevant who does or doesn't get medals. 4. I do, however, disagree with just randomly going through someone's profile and giving them medals for all their answered/replied to questions. (I did it once and it was fun, but it was a month ago and I have repented of my ways)

OpenStudy (farmdawgnation):

I don't really think this is considered a medal party Parth. As rebecca said, users can use whatever metric for assigning medals that they want. I've been known to assign medals to silly responses in the past as well. The only time we have a problem is when the user gets a TON of medals from the same person (such as what rebecca was talking about going through someone's profile). In those cases, we will act, and swiftly - but what you're describing sounds less intentional and more opportunistic than anything else.
