How did the assassination of archduke ferdinand and the rise of nationalism combine to spark ww1?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The Hapsburg Empire had conquered most of central Europe by the early 1900s, so Austro-Hungary was pretty much out of money by that time. This little fact cause gave everyone an idea that the Hapsburg were almost constantly at war. Without any strength and enough power to control the recklessness of its fellow countries, Austria, Northern Italy, Hungary, Yugoslavia, and Poland had alot of nationalism. Archduke Franz Ferdinand was the nephew of the last Hapsburg king and was considered a "symbol" of the empire. The assassination of the Archduke was the main cause of the revolt of the nationalists surrounding Hapsburg Empire which caused a major break in the empire. Hope i helped :)
