OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

do you have choices?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes. but we dont have to chose from them if we dont want to. Here are some she gave us: health, fun, family, service, freedom, hope, success, hope, pain, forgiveness

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

It will be awhile before I can get to you. I am currently working with someone. I will be with you in a minute or so. Okay?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Day_2010, r u free now? i really need help ASAP if u dont mind

OpenStudy (day_2010):

Okay, did you have any specific guidelines and most importantly do you know what an analysis concept paper is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the prompt is: in a detailed essay of 4-5 pgs, use at least 2 of the Methods of Exposition to define an abstract concept in a concrete way. and im guessing it is basically when you analyze a concept. I dont know much about it.

OpenStudy (day_2010):

Okay, now I see... So you need a topic? Also, yes you do 'analyze a concept'. In this case your concept will be your topic.

OpenStudy (day_2010):

I have used this resource to help me when I write: http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/685/02/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have alot of choices like success fun hope forgiveness pain home and family. but i dont know what exactly i am supposed to do in this paper

OpenStudy (day_2010):

I see okay, what you essentially do is pose questions and answer them in the form of an essay these are some questions you could pose: How does it influence of change people’s lives? How does it influence people’s thoughts? What is its primary purpose or function? What emotions or thoughts are associated with it? What behaviors are associated with it? What consequences or effects does it have? What is necessary to attain it or have it? How does it matter to others? Is the concept generally agreed upon? Does the concept raise controversy? Explain why. Why is it important that people have an appropriate understanding of this concept? Are there complexities to the concept that people might overlook? Does the concept need to be rethought? Why? In what ways does it contribute to everyday life? Is this a popular or high profile concept in society? What is the possible connection between the topic and public concerns?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok. do u know where i could see some samples so i get an idea of what im supposed to do? and say I chose family, how would i "analyze" family?

OpenStudy (day_2010):

Remember, your essay must go beyond simple definition. It should not be a process or procedure, but a concept. You must 'analyze' a concept (forgiveness). Analyzing requires more than acceptance at face value. Rather, you must break it apart and explore the true identity of the idea (forgiveness). This means you must question and examine your chosen concept, so yes all you do is analyze family. Sorry for my lengthy post. :)

OpenStudy (day_2010):

I can do a quick search for you, so you can better understand.

OpenStudy (day_2010):

It's basically an analysis where you present information. Here is a link: http://teacherweb.com/CA/VanNuysHighSchool/TovarsEnglishClass/sampleexpository.pdf
