The polygraph test administrator wondered what his subject meant when he stated that he was home at the time of the burglary, because several eye witnesses have identified him as part of the gang glimpsed fleeing the crime scene. Which one is wrong? Answer choices: "his subject meant", "when he stated", "have identified him", or "because"? This isn't "no error"

From the answer choices you've given, I'd guess that "have identified him" should be corrected to "had identified him" to maintain the past tense structure of the sentence. If the polygraph test administrator was confused *during* the test, it means that he'd already heard the witnesses, hence keeping everything in the past tense.
