which of the following are complex numbers? 5. 3t or -1+2t

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

Complex numbers have Both a real part an imaginary part\[z=a+ib\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay so out of 5 3t or -1+2t is a complex #?

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

i dont know what you mean by t,

OpenStudy (anonymous):

idk either its just in my question and idk what it means

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

i was using \(i\) to denote the imaginary unit \[i=\sqrt{-1}\] perhaps \(t=i\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no i don think thats it

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

In that case \[~5, ~3t, ~-1+2t \] do not have an imaginary component ,ie \(b=0\), and they are all \(\in\mathbb R\) and not \(\in \mathbb C\)

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

actually im not sure

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think its 3t because it has a variable
