Put x kilometer and equate both. Actually that point is called break even point.
What I did is First I calculated the Initial Cost. Hybrid 29500-2200=27300 non hybrid which is 25,000 then is subtracted them and get 2300 initial cost @waterineyes @Champs
( Initial cost + running cost) Non hybrid = ( Intial cost+ running cost) of Hybrid. I'm not sure about what's is tax credit. If it's a benefit take +ve. otherwise -ve.
@waterineyes @Champs then i subtracted the mile age 28-20=8mpg
I think it will be positive because it is being credited and not debt..
Ok (29500- 2200) + (x/28) x 1.95 = 2500 + (x/20) x 1.95. Now can you solve.
I think we should call here someone more intelligent in solving these types of problems..

it depends on how many decimal places you are taking.
so when I take more decimal I will be close to 82 565

We've taken four decimals right? More than enough. Or your friend might have used some othere method which doesn't involve decimals at all.

This is exactly where we are reaching finally right?
1.95(28x-20x/20x times 28=2300
8/560=2300/1.95=1179.5
1.95/28 = 0.0696 .......
x/70=1179.5 x=1179.5x70=82565
Okay. So this is more accurate I think. As he didn't use the decimals.
