Question on citing APA style. Can anyone advise me, please? I am writing a scholarly article for publication, citing interviews which I conducted with participants. I am told by a blind reviewer that every time I quote my participants, I need to cite that with "personal communication, month/date/year" of the interview. I am hesitant to do this, because none of the top scholarly, peer reviewed journals in my field follow this practice, and APA 6th edition does not recommend it either. If your hesitant, then go with your gut and do not cite the publication with "personal communication, month/date/year." Also, you mentioned APA 6th edition does not require it, so its an option to include that citation. I personally would include just to be safe.
