the technique that worked best for me to improve pronunciation was watching chinese movies and television shows. via this method i was also able to learn to distinguish between northern and southern dialects. listen carefully to what they say and pay close attention as much as possible to the actors' mouth formations. you could also pick up a job in a chinese restaurant as well....
