Every Monday, Rajiv receives 50% off enchilada dinners that regularly cost $32.Which of the following shows the amount Rajiv pays for the dinners if he tips the waiter 17% of the regular price for the dinners? Assume no sales tax is added to his bill.
Ok, do you know how to start this problem? You're looking to create an equation...
yeah , isnt it like you do 32 dollars divided by 50 %
Close - so to get the 50% you actually *multiply* $32 x .50
either way you get 16 .
then, the second part of the equation is the tip - it's 17% but of the REAL price (not the discount)
hehe, touche - that's right, answered before I thought of it ;)
so whats the real price ??
Actually - if you divide $32 by 50% you get 64. The real price is the $32. So you have this equation to get what he actually pays that night: ($32 x 50%) + ($32 x 17%)
16 + 5.44
190.08
thats not in my awsners >.<
16 + 5.44 = 21.44 :)
37.44 ! GOT IT !
oh ........ okay Lol
Hehe, no worries! As long as you understand how you got there, it's all good :)
Could u help me with another one ?
Maybe - ask another question and I'll see if I can help (I work for OpenStudy so I'm usually pretty busy). But if you ask it, I'm sure someone will help you for sure :)
You know how to ask another one right? (you've got to close this one first)
alright ! thanks !
You're welcome :)
