Find the domain of the function. g(x) = 3x/x^2-81
The domain is anything that does not make the denominator 0. What squared - 81 will give 0?
-9
Correct, so the domain would be all real numbers not including 9 or -9
it has this weird symbol in the answer i think it is an inifinity symbol
Yes, if it were plotted on a number line, it would be one that extends from -infinity to positive infinity with holes at -9 and 9.
so would it -infinity, and positive infinity
Correct, but remember it can't include 9 or -9.
my choices are like this A. (-infinity, infinity) B. (-infinity, -9) (-9,9) (9,infinity) C. (81, infinity) D. (-infinity, 0) (0, infinity) So the answer would be a
when you find a domain your not actually directly finding a domain. You assume the domain is the universe(most likely real numbers) and find what you need to remove from that domain to make the equation true. so you are finding what the domain cant be, then taking that away from the universe, then you have your domain. Most of the time you will only have problems with sqrt(something), something/somehing that can me zero), or log(something).
no that person was confusing me sorry
Sorry about that guy :/ He should be taken care of for now.
