OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

for which compound does 0.256 mole weigh 12.8 g? A) \(C_2 H_4 O\) B) \(CO_2\) C) \(CH_3 Cl\) <--answer D) \(C_2 H_6\) E) None of these can someone tell me why C is the right answer and not E?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

C weights 12g/mole H weights 1g/mole Cl weights 35.45g/mole 12g/mole + (3*1g/mole)+35.45g/mole = 50.45g/mole So, CH3Cl weights 50.45g/mole

OpenStudy (zepp):

0.256 mol of that stuff 50.45g/mol * 0.256 mol = 12.91g

OpenStudy (anonymous):

They probably round everything to the whole so C weights 12g/mole H weights 1g/mole Cl weights 35.45g/mole \(\approx\) 35g/mole 12+3+35=50 50g/mol * 0.256mol = 12.8g

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

that's cheating :/

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

i should have been right >.< it should be none of those

OpenStudy (zepp):

My second me is better that the real me? :(
