With respect to the origin O, the points P, Q, R, S have position vectors given but OP=i-k , OQ= -2i+4j, OR= 4i+2j+k, OS= 3i+5j-6k A) Find the equation of the plane containing P, Q, R. B) The point N is the foot of the perpendicular from S to this plane. Find the position vector of N and find the length of SN. Only need help with part B

OpenStudy (turingtest):

what plane? are all these points in the same plane?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i am sorry, i did not add the first question :P a) find the equation of the plane containing P, Q, R. B) the one in the question !

OpenStudy (turingtest):

to find the equation of the plane find two vectors in the plane then cross them you can get a vector in the plane by subtracting one position vector from another

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got the answer to the equation of the plane !..the second one is where I am confused :(

3D: |dw:1342796940354:dw| the i, j, and k are vectors in 3D space

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well typically. It depends on what you meant, but that's typically what this stuff refers to.
