This is a definitions thing... Got to memorize it. :-) y = y-coordinate (dependent) x = x-coordinate (independent) b = y-intercept, vertical shifting the graph up/down m = slope and Average slope: \[m=\frac{\triangle y}{\triangle x}=\frac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}\]
