Which of the following is the most effective opening sentence for an introductory paragraph? A. I heard a loud sound before I collapsed. B. Bang! That was the last sound I heard before I collapsed. C. The loud sound was the last thing I heard before I collapsed. D. None of the above. (D is wrong)

OpenStudy (lifeisadangerousgame):

Hmm...which do you think it is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

c

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think it is A. The reason I don't think it is C is because of the words "the loud sound." What loud sound? As a reader, I don't know what sound you mean YET, so you should start with "A loud sound." Then, you can explain what the sound is in the next few sentences.

Thank you :)

No problem! I hope my reasoning made sense, to you.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes it did :)

OpenStudy (day_2010):

I believe otherwise, I think it is' B.' Because it catches the readers attention and leaves you wanting more information. Like, what is the sound that made whoever collapse. I can see 'B' being a little amateurish, but it is effective. I believe anyways. :)
