(x-post from ocw biology) I think there is a mistake in the second "check yourself" question on the Genetics/Biochemical Genetics page of the MIT OCW Scholar course. The question is "The phenotypes of two haploid tryptophan auxotrophs are both found to be recessive. These two mutants are crossed and the resulting diploid CAN grow on minimal media". In my opinion the correct statement must be "The mutations are in different genes", but the answer shown is "The mutations are in the same gene". There have not been a lot of responses in the OCW forum, so I was advised to repost here.

Here is a link to the page with the check yourself question (it's the second one): http://ocw.mit.edu/courses/biology/7-01sc-fundamentals-of-biology-fall-2011/genetics/biochemical-genetics/.
