The question and the answers that follow it are a little tricky depending on who you want to source as your answer. But for the most part, the answer will be (D) as it is the largest on the planet at around $15 trillion dollars based on 2011 figures from the World Bank ( http://data.worldbank.org/data-catalog/GDP-ranking-table). In most regular conversation, it will be the US that tops the list.

It gets a little trickier when you consider the European Union which actually does have a larger collective GDP making it #1 (according to the CIA here: https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/rankorder/2001rank.html), but for this question, it doesn't help because of how the other answers are phrased.

(A) is clearly out as the US GDP is far from being proportionate to "all" other countries by a longshot. (B) is also gone as the US GDP is far larger than most with the possible exception of the European Union if you decide to include that, but even then, that's only one example out of the rest of the world. (C) also doesn't make much sense because it is more than "slightly" larger than most countries. It's like a Godzilla of financial power. So with all that in mind, that only leaves (D).
