De javu. Welcome to OpenStudy!

Parth (parthkohli):

Do you know how to group the like terms and operate on them?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hello. I am stumped. I do however I keep getting different answers

Parth (parthkohli):

Okay. So, you may group this as \(2a - 2a + 9b - b\). Do you agree?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes..

Parth (parthkohli):

What is 2a - 2a?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

one second, i see where I went wrong.

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

correction.. it's not "grouping" it's rearranging ;)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

answer is 8b.... 2a-2a+9b-b=8b

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in combining like terms, (like terms are terms which differ on their numerical coefficients, meaning their literal factor are the same), that is for this problem 2a and - 2a has a literal factor as "a".
